如何为分两栏的页的每一栏设置“栏码”，而不是页码？

我想用 xeLaTeX 排版一张类似于高考试卷的文档，请问如何在分两栏情况下为每一栏都设置“栏码”呢？

以b3横向纸为例：

第1页，左栏设置页脚为1，右栏设置页脚为2；
第2页，左栏设置页脚为3，右栏设置页脚为4；
以此类推，得到左页脚为：

2\thepage-1

右页脚为：

2\thepage

不过我不太清楚应该怎么去表述这个页脚和页面的引用之间的关系……

我的初步想法是用fancyhdr使左右页脚偏移到分栏的中间大致位置。

经多方搜索后，冥冥中感觉跟计数器有关，我搞不懂~
